Pottsville Diner

The first restaurant on our list is the famous Pottsville Diner on Route 61. All four of us ordered the same thing, the “2-2-2” special which, according to the menu, includes 2 eggs (any style), 2 sausage links, and 2 pieces of bacon with home fries. We had ordered this before and sometimes you get 3 of each, but today I was served 3 pieces of bacon and 2 links.

Establishment: 2/5 – I might be a little generous here. The building is not much to look at, but that doesn’t bother me in the least. It is a rather dirty building and the grease really sticks to the air – and your clothes. I’ve been home for 30 minutes and can still smell the grease on my clothes. I wouldn’t come here before Sunday Mass unless you want the person sitting in the pew behind you to smell what you had for breakfast.

Service: 5/5 – Waitress was nice and the service was fast – only a 4-minute wait. We got there at 9:00am and had no trouble finding a booth. Our waitress was quick on refilling our coffee.

Appearance: 3/5 – If you can tell by the picture, the coffee mugs are rather large, so that was an added bonus.

Taste: 2/5 – Eh. I’ve had better. The bacon and home fries were a little burnt but it wasn’t bad.

Price: 5/5 – Very cheap. You get more than what you pay for, that’s for sure.

Overall, I’d definitely come back and try another item on the menu but I won’t be jumping out of my seat to come to the Pottsville Diner. It’s a good place if you want a quick and cheap breakfast. Oh, and make sure wherever you go afterwards has a bathroom!
