Our next stop is the Friedensburg Country Restaurant, which is located on Long Run Road in (you guessed it) Friedensburg. Bryan, Matt, Mike, and special guest Kevin went on the road to try some good ole country cookin’. Tonto was still ashamed for failing last week’s “Everything Omelette” challenge at Lewie’s so he decided not to show his face today. No word on whether or not he finished the other half of the omelette.
The menu at the FCR is very extensive and it was difficult to choose just one item. Bryan ordered the “Top Banana”, which consists of two pieces of French toast topped with sliced bananas with a side of smoked sausage. Not surprisingly, Matt ordered the “Country Woman” item which consists of two eggs, homefries, one piece of French toast, and one meat (smoked sausage). Mike had the “Meat Lovers Omelette” which included ham, bacon, smoked sausage, and cheese. Our guest, Kevin, ordered the mushroom omelette.

Establishment: 5/5 – Out of the six restaurants we visited so far, the FCR has probably the nicest establishment. It has a very warm atmosphere and seating was abundant. There were plenty of tables and booths to choose from. Matt gushed over how nice the interior of the restaurant was…wait until he sees their prices.
Service: 3/5 – We had a 12-minute wait from the time we ordered to when we received our food. We had to ask our waitress for more coffee, which cost them a couple of points in this category. Our waitress was very friendly, though.
Appearance: 4/5 – The food portions at the FCR are large. You won’t leave this place hungry. The only downside was their very small coffee mugs. We are noticing this is becoming a trend, which is not good. So far, the Pottsville Diner has had the largest coffee mugs. Large coffee mugs = a good review from our crew!

Taste: 4/5 – Our food was very delicious. The only negative comments were from Bryan and Matt who both thought their smoked sausage was extremely dry. Other than that, our food was top-notch. The homefries and bananas were both fresh and the eggs were cooked perfectly.
Price: 2/5 – This is not the cheapest restaurant out there. Prices were a tad expensive compared to the other restaurants on our list. It was Matt’s turn to pay and we could see a single tear roll down his cheek as he glanced at the bill and proceeded to open his wallet.
Overall, the Friedensburg Country Restaurant is a great place to enjoy breakfast. Their menu is substantial and it would take a long time to try all of the meals. The picture at the top is only one of the three pages of breakfast items served here. This isn’t cheap diner food – the quality of the food reflects the higher-than-normal prices. We definitely recommend the FCR to anyone looking for a quality breakfast in a family atmosphere.
“I call her sweet country woman. She’s the one that keeps me goin’ when the times get bad.” – Johnny Duncan
