“Did you Boscov today?”
Today we decided to take a trip to Boscov’s in the Fairlane Village Mall. The only thing we were shopping for, however, was a good breakfast. The restaurant located inside Boscov’s was formally called “The Greenery”. I guess management wanted to make the establishment less appealing so they decided to rebrand it as “The Restaurant at Boscov’s”. How creative!
We arrived around 10AM, which is the time Boscov’s opens. We walked in to find the restaurant already filled with customers. The host would later tell us that the restaurant actually opens up an hour before the store at 9AM. Good to know.
Bryan ordered the Country Fried Steak & Eggs platter which came with two eggs (he ordered over-easy), homefries (or hash browns), toast, and a big piece of country fried steak. Matt and Mike both ordered the Rise & Shine Breakfast platter which consisted of two eggs (Matt ordered scrambled and Mike ordered sunny-side-up), your choice of meat (Matt = sausage, Mike = bacon), and toast.

Establishment: 4/5 – We were quite impressed with the interior of the restaurant. It was very clean and had just enough seating. Mike spotted the scratch-off lottery ticket machine at the entrance and decided to give it a try. No luck. We also noticed that we were the youngest customers in the entire restaurant. Mike mentioned that he felt like he was on a bus trip to Atlantic City. The median age of customers had to be around 70.
Service: 2/5 – Kind of slow. It took us 17-minutes to receive our food and there was only three of us.
Appearance: 4/5 – The portion sizes were pretty good. Matt’s scrambled eggs looked a little skimpy. He’s used to receiving a little more than two eggs, but this place definitely gives you the minimum amount.

Taste: 3/5 – It wasn’t terrible but it definitely wasn’t the best we’ve had. Bryan thought his toast was more like bread. It was soggy and barely even toasted. Mike’s bacon was a tad undercooked for his liking. The homefries were also a bit soggy and undercooked. Matt’s sausage looked like the frozen links you’d buy from the grocery store. Not too impressed here.
Price: 3.5/5 – Prices weren’t bad, as you can see by the pictures of the menu. The quality of food wasn’t the best, so it makes sense that the prices were on the cheap side.
All in all, The Restaurant at Boscov’s passed the eye test, but came up a bit short on the food front. It was better than we expected, though. We would like to come back here at some point and try other items on their menu. Mike just wants to come back and old-people watch. This is a good restaurant if you are out shopping at the Fairlane Village Mall (people still do that) and want a cheap bite to eat.
