The crew has heard good things about the breakfast served at the White Birch Golf Course’s restaurant in Barnesville and decided to check it out today. Was it a hole-in-one?

The foursome didn’t have any trouble deciding what to order. Matt and Tonto decided to tee off on the special of the day, which was the “Bananas Foster”. This is described as “Stuffed French Toast grilled to a golden brown and topped with bananas in a warm brown sugar and rum glaze and whipped cream.” That sounds good just typing it. Bryan ordered the Stuffed French Toast with blueberries and a side of bacon, while Mike had the Breakfast Wrap. The Breakfast Wrap consists of eggs, cheese, meat, mushrooms, peppers, onions and tomato. It was served with a side of sour cream and salsa.
Establishment: 3/5 (Par) – The restaurant itself is nothing special. It has a modest decor that looks like it hasn’t changed in 40 years. There is a decent amount of seating with two connecting dining rooms. It isn’t fancy – but who needs a fancy restaurant to enjoy a meal? Not us.

Service: 4/5 (Birdie) – Our waitress must’ve asked if we needed more coffee about 5 times during our meal. That’s not a bad thing! The reason it lost a stroke here was because of the slightly longer wait, 13-minutes, which just so happens to be the same amount of time it takes Matt to make a six-foot putt.
Appearance: 3/5 (Par) – The portions were on the smaller side. We all had the chance to pay a little extra for more food, but decided to play it conservative and go with the smaller platter. Tonto was visibly nervous and didn’t want to embarrass himself again…hence the small platter.

Taste: 5/5 (Hole-in-One) – Very good! Bryan’s Stuffed French Toast with blueberries was incredible and Mike really enjoyed his wrap. Bryan thought the bacon was cooked just right. Tonto thought the sausage patty was good, not great. The real Cinderella Story today was the Bananas Foster (pictured at the top). Matt, who usually orders the egg and meat platter, decided to switch gears and go with the Foster. He claims it was the best tasting breakfast meal he’s had so far! Maybe it’s good to change things up once in a while.
Price: 4/5 (Birdie) – The prices weren’t bad at all. The best part was that drinks were included with the meal, so we didn’t have to pay separately for our coffee.
The restaurant at the White Birch Golf Course scored big with the Breakfast in the Skook crew. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Their breakfast menu is large and diverse. They seem to have something for everybody. Tonto even finished his entire meal, which says a lot! We recommend eating here, even if you don’t have a tee time.
