Our crew made the trek to the Schuylkill-Berks county border today to check out 3C’s Family Restaurant, which is located off Route 61 near Port Clinton. We had the option to sit inside or outside on the deck, so we obviously chose the latter.

Matt and Mike both ordered the two-eggs with meat meal. Matt had scrambled eggs with a sausage patty and homefries, while Mike decided to go with over-easy, bacon and hash browns. Bryan ordered the “Uncle Joe’s Farmers Omelet”, which consisted of two eggs, onions, peppers, cheese and homefries. He also ordered a side of sausage links. The Mighty Tonto went with the Country Fried Chicken platter, which also came with two eggs (over-easy), homefries and toast. Matt was thrilled that he was able to order rye toast this week.

Establishment: 5/5 – 3C’s has plenty of parking, but it could be tough pulling out because of its proximity to a busy highway – especially if you want to go north. We had to drive down to Port Clinton in order to turn around. This would have cost them a point or two, but it was canceled out by it’s scenic outdoor deck. The deck overlooks the Schuylkill River and was very picturesque. Tonto was our nature guide; he was busy pointing out the wildlife that appeared throughout our meal. The interior of the restaurant was also very nice and had a patriotic feel to it. There was plenty of red-white-and blue scattered throughout.

Service: 5/5 – We had a 14-minute wait until we received our food. Our waitress was very friendly and updated us with frequent coffee refills. She even complied to Mike’s unusual request for a “half a cup” of coffee.

Appearance: 5/5 – Our portions were very large – especially Bryan’s omelette which he struggled to finish. The coffee mugs were also large and resembled the ones used last week at Josie’s Place.

Taste: 5/5 – Our food was homemade and delicious. Bryan stated that it was probably the best tasting meal he’s had so far. The sausage links were plump and fresh. Mike’s hash browns were freshly cut and the homefries were cooked perfectly. Tonto also enjoyed his country fried chicken. This place has excellent food.

Price: 2/5 – Compared to the other restaurants on our list, 3C’s is a little more expensive. We didn’t mind this, however, since our food was of high quality.

If you are searching for a filling, homemade breakfast, we highly recommend 3C’s Family Restaurant. They are only open until 2PM, so breakfast is obviously their specialty. Excellent atmosphere, fresh food and good service resulted in 3C’s shooting up near the top of our list of establishments. So far we have visited ten breakfast spots in Schuylkill county, but there are many more to go. We are only just scratching the surface!
