Buddy’s Log Cabin

Buddy’s Log Cabin is a family restaurant located on Tremont Road in Pine Grove. If you like dead animals staring at you while you eat, this is the place for you. The breakfast menu isn’t very large, so it didn’t take us long to figure out what to order.

Mike ordered the “Mexican Omelet”, which consists of eggs, cheese, ham, onions and peppers topped with salsa. Bryan decided to go with two blueberry pancakes with a side of bacon. Tonto ordered the “Hunky Style Eggs & Potatoes” meal. This is a medley of eggs, potatoes, American cheese, ham, green peppers and onions. He also ordered a side of sausage. Speaking of hunks, our crew would like to make a shout out to fellow member Matt, and congratulate him on his recent engagement. Matt was already trying to appease his fiance and couldn’t make it out to breakfast this morning.

Establishment: 5/5 – Buddy’s has plenty of parking on both sides of the restaurant. The exterior resembled a log cabin, go figure! The interior has an assortment of taxidermy and old decor. There seemed to be just enough seating throughout. The booths were wooden and added to the theme of the restaurant. Very unique setting!

Service: 1/5 – Very slow. It took us a whopping 22-minutes to receive our food. This was by far the longest we’ve had to wait so far. Tonto thought he was going to die of old-age while he waited. It also took us a while to receive refills on our coffee and our bill. To be fair, it was pretty crowded this morning.

Appearance: 5/5 – You get very large portions of food here. Bryan’s pancakes were the size of manhole covers. Both he and Tonto could not finish their meals. Their coffee mugs were also large. All of our meals looked very appetizing.

Taste: 5/5 – No complaints here. Everything was homemade and delicious. The potatoes were freshly cut and the sausage & bacon were both very tasty. The blueberries in Bryan’s pancakes were large and fresh. Our crew also enjoyed the homemade toast that was provided. The coffee was also hot and had a robust flavor. Very high quality of food at Buddy’s.

Price: 2.5/5 – Their prices were reasonable considering the amount of food you receive. Our bill was over $30 for just the three of us. It was nice that the coffee was only 70 cents with the breakfast entree. Compared to other places like the Pottsville Diner and Lewie’s, this is a tad more expensive. But again, it all depends on what item you order.

Overall, Buddy’s Log Cabin is a nice place if you want a filling, homemade breakfast. The unique atmosphere adds to the appeal of this restaurant. If you’re not in a hurry and don’t mind the wait, we highly recommend checking this place out.

    Candy’s review:
“Atmosphere: good- looks like a log cabin with a mix of taxidermy and old lanterns/cans/relics on beams…it’s seat yourself so you sit right away…however it took a waitress about 10 minutes to get to me to even get a coffee…they took my order. It took 25 mins from the time I sat down to the time I got food. Food was good. I got eggs over easy, ham, homefries, wheat toast and coffee…best part of food was homemade homefries (shredded kind) not frozen…the toast was homemade but they served it on top of the steaming food so it got soggy before I could take it off…pretty cheap as well like 7 bucks and change for the breakfast and a coffee.”
