The Breakfast in the Skook crew has been waiting patiently to eat at Anne’s Bakery, which is located off Main Street in Branchdale. They were closed for about five months, so once they reopened, we had to check it out.
We arrived at 8:45 a.m. to an almost full parking lot. Today’s crew consisted of Bryan, Mike, Tonto, and special guest, “Wolfman”. They had a decent amount of specials on the menu, as you can see from the pictures.
Bryan ended up ordering the “Knee Jerker”, which is simply Eggs Benedict with homefries. He also ordered a side of raisin toast. Mike went with the Stuffed French Toast meal, which consisted of French Toast stuffed with cream cheese and bacon. The Mighty Tonto ordered the “Wounded Knee” special, which was Yuengling Sausage with two-eggs (over-easy), homefries, and toast. Our guest, the Wolfman, ended up filling in nicely for Matt. He ordered the two-eggs (scrambled), with a side of bacon and homefries.

Establishment: 3/5 – Nice little restaurant on the inside, but it is nothing to sneeze out from the outside. They have a very small sign on the side of the building that is difficult to see from the road, so many people probably drive right past the restaurant without even knowing it’s there. The interior is small, but it has a nice atmosphere. It could get packed rather quickly, depending on the crowd.
Service: 3/5 – They were low-staffed and very busy this morning so I tried to be a little generous here. Our waitress was very nice and friendly, but we had to ask for coffee refills during our meal. It took Bryan and Mike 18-minutes to receive their food, but Tonto and the Wolfman had to wait about 5-7 minutes longer. Bryan and Mike did not wait for them, and started to chow down right away.
Appearance: 4.5/5 – Our meals looked amazing, although the Wolfman’s eggs were barely scrambled.
Taste: 5/5 – Homecooked and delicious. Anne knows how to cook a great meal, that’s for sure. Everything was piping hot and fresh. The homefries were freshly cut and Mike’s Stuffed French Toast was warm and scrumptious. Bryan enjoyed his Eggs Benedict, but wished he had a knife to cut it with. The raisin toast was thick and home baked. It was served with a heaping amount of whipped butter. Tonto’s Yuengling sausage was split open to ensure even cooking and was very juicy. He claims everything tastes better with Yuengling. The Wolfman also enjoyed his meal with his “scrambled” eggs. A+ as far as taste goes.
Price: 4/5 – Not too shabby. Our meal cost roughly $39 for the four of us. Anne’s gives you a quality meal for an affordable price.

All in all, Anne’s Bakery in Branchdale is a must-go if you are a breakfast fan. You receive big portions of homecooked food for a decent price. Not to mention it is another local and family-run establishment. Why go to a fast food restaurant when you have Anne’s Bakery in your backyard? Anne’s hours fluctuate, but are mostly only open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. Make sure you buy a loaf of bread on your way out the door!
