This is not your famous fast-food joint! McDonald’s Lunch is a small, family-owned-and-operated eatery in Girardville. Our crew never knew this place existed until a fellow blog reader brought it to our attention. Thanks, Adam!
Today’s crew consisted of Bryan, Matt, Mike and Kevin. There seemed to be a miscommunication between Tonto and the rest of the group this morning. He thought we were leaving at 10:30 instead of 8:40, so he never arrived. After reading our review, I’m sure he’ll want to try this place out!

The first thing we noticed as we sat down at our table was the lack of menus. In fact, they had no menus whatsoever. Just a blackboard on the wall with their daily specials…nothing else. Our very nice waitress informed us of the food they had in the kitchen and that we could order whatever we wanted. Bryan ordered the ham and scrambled eggs special with homefries. Matt continued to be steadfast and ordered the usual two-eggs (scrambled), sausage and homefries with rye toast. Mike went with the two-eggs (over-easy) with bacon and homefries. Kevin decided to order a mushroom and cheese omelette with hash browns. Tonto didn’t order anything because he wasn’t there.

Establishment: 1/5 – If you didn’t know this place was there, you’d probably drive right by without stopping. A small wooden sign graces the white building that has evidence of coal soot on it. McDonald’s looks like any other house on its block, not a restaurant that serves amazing food. Once you enter the door, you are greeted by a hallway that leads to another door that takes you to the restaurant. The interior was dimly lit and very cold. They had two space heaters going on opposite ends of the restaurant and we could see our breath while we sat at our table. We arrived at 9:15 a.m. and they only opened 15-minutes prior, so the heaters needed some time to warm up.
Service: 4/5 – Our waitress frequently refilled our coffees and Kevin’s hot chocolate. She was very nice and considerate. We took off a point because of the longer-than-normal wait time of 30-minutes. This was our longest wait so far, but it was worth it!
Appearance: 5/5 – Their food portions were immense! Mike received five large pieces of bacon with his meal and they loaded up on the homefries! Not only that, but everything came out piping hot! Take a look at our meals and tell me you’re not hungry all of a sudden.
Taste: 5/5 – It tasted as good as it looked. The homefries were freshly cut potatoes, and you could tell that they chopped them up on the spot. The scrambled eggs were cooked to Matt’s liking – nice and fluffy. Matt and Mike both enjoyed their sausage patties and bacon, respectively. The ham that Bryan ordered was of the thinner kind, but it was packed full of flavor. Kevin thought that his mushroom omelette was “great”. Mike even raved about their hot sauce! We all agreed that this was one of the best meals we’ve had in a while.

Price: 5/5 – $29 for four enormous meals. Need I say more?
Although it’s not the cleanest or fanciest of restaurants, McDonald’s Lunch in Girardville is a must-visit for any breakfast fan. Hot, home-cooked food served in large amounts for a very cheap price. You can’t go wrong. We’ve also heard good things about their lunches as well. The St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Girardville is right around the corner. If you are celebrating in town that day and are looking for a place to chow down on some good grub, we highly recommend checking out McDonald’s!
