Behm’s Family Restaurant is located off Route 125 in Tremont. They have an all-day breakfast menu that we had to check out. We had a full five-man crew for this morning’s breakfast (Bryan, Kevin, Matt, Mike, and Tonto). There were only a few customers dining when we arrived around 8:20 a.m. so we pretty much had the entire restaurant to ourselves.

The breakfast menu at Behm’s isn’t too substantial, but we still had a hard time deciding what to order. Matt and Mike both went with their combo platters. Matt ordered the Combo #1 which included two eggs, toast, bacon, sausage links, and French Toast. Mike went with the Combo #2 which was a three-egg ham scramble with toast, sausage patties, and bacon. Bryan ordered the Spanish Omelette, which was composed of three eggs, onions, tomatoes, green peppers, salsa and sour cream. He also ordered a side of hashbrowns. Kevin ended up with the mushroom and cheese omelette with toast. The Mighty Tonto, after a three week hiatus, was back in action and decided to order the “Honkey Eggs” meal. This platter was a scramble that included eggs, onions, peppers, ham and homefries. He ordered a side of their girthy smoked sausage.

Establishment: 4/5 – A very spacious restaurant with plenty of seating. The interior looked old-school with brown leather booths, wooden tables, a diner counter, and faux wooden paneling on the walls. It wasn’t too much to look at, but it was very clean inside.

Service: 4.5/5 – There were two servers who provided us with frequent coffee refills. We were actually asked for refills two times during a 30-second stretch at one point during our meal. It only took us 14-minutes to receive our food, but longer to receive our check, thus the half-point deduction.

Appearance: 4/5 – Our meals looked good and were served hot. Tonto’s smoked sausage was rather large. I could see the envy on Matt’s face when it was served. The meals themselves weren’t the largest we’ve encountered, but it was just enough food for us this morning. The coffee mugs were smaller than how they appear in the pictures and required frequent refills.

Taste: 3.5/5 – Nothing too spectacular. Bryan really enjoyed his Spanish Omelette and thought it was nice changeup from the other meals he’s ordered in the past. His hashbrowns were cooked nice and crispy. Both the sausage patties and links were very good and were Mike’s favorite part of the meal. Tonto’s smoked sausage was just “okay”. Matt and Mike were not impressed by their bacon; Mike didn’t think it had much taste. Matt thought his scrambled eggs were a little dry, but enjoyed the French Toast that came with his combo.

Price: 2/5 – Our bill totaled $53 for the five of us. The biggest thing about the price is that you have to pay a little more for homefries ($1.35) and other sides. Tonto and Bryan were the only ones to order a side today. Most of the meals at other restaurants include homefries with their meals, but Behm’s does not.

Overall, Behm’s Family Restaurant provided us with a nice breakfast in a comforting atmosphere. Although it won’t make the top of our list, it gives us another breakfast option when we are traveling in the Tremont/Pine Grove area. The options on their all-day breakfast menu are more limited than their normal breakfast, but the fact that you can order breakfast at any time of the day is a plus in our book. It’s worth a try!
