We decided to take the long trek to the New Ringgold area this morning to check out Knepper’s Inn, which is located off the West Penn Pike, south of Tamaqua. Our party of four ended up being a party of three after Tonto backed out at the last minute, leaving just Bryan, Matt and Mike.
Our crew arrived at Knepper’s around 8:45 a.m. They had a few customers already chowing down by the time we got there. Their breakfast menu isn’t too lengthy, but it has your typical breakfast fare. Bryan ordered the bacon and cheese three-egg omelette with hash browns. Matt, as you can probably guess, ordered his usual two-egg meal (scrambled) with sausage and homefries. Mike went with the Eggs Benedict with homefries and toast.
Establishment: 5/5 – Very large parking lot with a neat little covered bridge connecting it with the lot next door. Matt and Mike wanted to get their picture with the bridge – you can check it out at the end of the blog. It will most likely be used for their Christmas cards this year. From the outside, the building looks very large – it is an inn, after all. As you enter the building, you’re greeted by the bar and a few smaller tables. The dining room sits to the right with a connecting banquet area that provides extra seating. Everything looked very clean. Similar to the 123 Cafe last week, they had their Halloween decorations in full swing.
Service: 5/5 – Our waitress was very nice and provided us with fast service. She quickly refilled our coffees and brought our meals out after only a 9-minute wait. Nothing to complain about here!
Appearance: 5/5 – The portions were plentiful and everything looked appetizing. We couldn’t wait to dig in, but of course we had to take a picture of our meals first!
Taste: 4/5 – The only complaint was that Bryan’s meal could’ve been warmer. Other than that, the taste was pretty darn good. Matt, who is known as our “Sausage King,” raved about Knepper’s sausage. He said it had a nice, peppery flavor. Mike said that the Eggs Benedict was the best he’s had in a long time. The homefries were fresh and thickly cut. They also provided us with their homemade hot sauce, which was very tasty! We were certainly pleased with all of our meals.

Price: 5/5 – Our bill totaled just over $24 for the three of us. That isn’t bad at all considering Mike’s meal alone was $9 and the coffee was $1.50 each.
All in all, we would definitely recommend Knepper’s Inn the next time you are in the West Penn area. With large, home-cooked portions for a cheap price, you can’t go wrong. We were a little disappointed that it took us this long to go there, but it won’t be long before we go back!
