Our next stop brought us back to Minersville to try the Mountaineer Hose Company’s bi-weekly Sunday breakfast. It sure felt like Thanksgiving as we tried to down our mountainous platters.
The Mighty Tonto chose work over breakfast today, which left us with Bryan, Matt and Mike out of our regular crew. We had a special guest today, Ray-Ray, who was eager to experience what it was like to eat breakfast with us.
The Mountaineer Hose Company is a sit-and-order establishment, and there were many items to choose from on their menu. Bryan ended up going with the #5, which is three hotcakes with a side of bacon. Matt ordered the #3, which included two eggs with a side of sausage. Mike went with the Western omelette with cheese and had it smothered in S.O.S. Our guest, Ray-Ray, ordered the bacon and cheese omelette.

Establishment: 4/5 – Nice setting with plenty of seating. The interior isn’t as big as Landingville’s, but there seemed to be enough seating for everybody. We took off a point because of the parking situation. It can be tricky to find a spot, depending on what time you get there. We arrived at 8:45 a.m. and had to park a couple of blocks away.
Service: 5/5 – We were accommodated by our waitress and other workers throughout our meal. The coffee machines were against the wall, so we had to walk up and serve ourselves. We only had to wait 10-minutes from the time we ordered until we received our meals. Service was extremely fast and we had no complaints here.
Appearance: 5/5 – As you can tell by the pictures, our portions were immense. You definitely will not leave here with empty tummies!
Taste: 4.5/5 – Took off a half of a point because Mike and Matt both thought their meals could’ve been a little warmer. Other than that, everything was delicious. The homefries were a little mushy and runny, but it didn’t take away from the taste. Bryan thought his pancakes were very good and had a nice crisp on the outside. The bacon and sausage were both cooked perfectly. Matt, a known sausage lover, enjoyed the large, plump sausages that were served with his meal. Ray-Ray had nothing but good things to say as well, and enjoyed his first meal with the gang. Everything was homecooked and tasted fresh.
Price: 4/5 – Not bad. Everything we ordered hovered around $6-7. You get your moneys worth and then some.

We will definitely be back to the Mountaineer Hose Company. When comparing this to the Landingville Fire Company’s breakfast, although both were good, we unanimously gave the Mounties a slight nod. If you want fresh, homecooked food with a cheap price, we highly recommend trying their breakfast. The Mountaineer Hose Company serves their breakfasts every-other Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. until May. They are located on 3rd Street in Minersville.
